2017, A Recap

Wow, I’m writing a blog post, shocker I know! In truth, I’m procrastinating college work because I haven’t done anything since college finished for the year, whoops. I have been reminiscing over the past year and thought I would talk about what an amazing year 2017 has been. It has had its downs for sure, some very scary ones too but overall looking back I have my health (as much as I can have anyway), I have come so far in my sewing skills and I have made some lifelong friends in the sewing community. So here is my top 5 moments of 2017…

1) This has been a year of firsts; I made my first knickers, my first pair of jeans, my first shirt, my first bra, my first coat and my first jacket! Not only have I made a lot of firsts I started this blog and I started a youtube channel and although college east up so much of my time I can’t produce as much content as I want I know I can come back and write a post when I find the time.

2) I also started to become much more involved in the sewing community and in August I went to the New Craft House Summer party where I met so many amazing ladies (too many to name although at the end I will be giving some shoutouts). I then got to do it all over again for the Winter party which was equally amazing.

3) I started blogging for SewMeSunshine and this has been one of the biggest things for me this year. I became a part of a team of bloggers that goes so beyond just sewing a garment for a brilliant shop. We have truly become friends and I love talking to them daily. Also, SewMeSunshine opened this year and although I know I am a bit biased this fabric shop has been a real game-changer for me, I’ve stopped buying poor quality dirt cheap fabric because I cannot resist all the beautiful fabrics!

4) I have also got the pleasure of working with Fabric Styles another great fabric shop who sell high-quality scuba fabric. I help them run their facebook page and I have so many ideas for the new year for them. They have been great allowing me to have the creative freedom to do as I please over there! You should defiantly come join us over there.

5) And finally,  In November I got my dream job, working at The Cambridge Fabric Company. Although this might seem like a small aspiration to some, I love working there. I get to roll around in fabric all day, talk to people who also love sewing and work in a small business. I have recently taken over their Instagram and I can’t wait to get more involved with the business. There are some exciting plans in the works at The Cambridge Fabric Company so do stay tuned!
